Overview
You’re invited to attend the Medium Voltage Cable Advanced Testing & Diagnostics Workshop at the NB Power Service Centre during SYNC 2025 on January 13th, in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Seminar Topics & Objectives
Overview of MV Cable Condition Assessment for Higher Criticality Applications - 1 Hour and 30 Minutes (10:30am - 12:00pm)
- Provide a brief overview of the applied theory, field testing experience and diagnostic range of electrical tests which are applicable for MV power cable commissioning and maintenance testing, particularly for higher criticality cable applications.
Lunch Break - 1 Hour and 30 Minutes (12:00pm - 1:30pm, lunch will be provided)
Hands-on Demonstration – MV Cable Partial Discharge and Very Low Frequency (VLF) Tangent Delta Testing - 3 Hours (1:30pm - 4:30pm)
- Provide a unique, high-level demonstration and comparison of results from diagnostic Partial Discharge and VLF Tangent Delta testing, using a full-scale custom-built MV Modular Cable & Accessory Diagnostic Demonstration System. The demonstration system will include 15kV rated XLPE or EPR cables and splices, along with field-representative manufacturing or workmanship-related dielectric defects.
Benefit to Attendees
- Gain insights into the technical merits of a combined diagnostic testing approach using Partial Discharge and VLF Tan δ testing through both theory and practical demonstration.
- Learn about the differences in diagnostic test sensitivities to various types of degradation.
- Understand, through demonstration, the scientific and practical considerations when comparing data from power frequency and VLF methods.
Our team of experts will also be available at Booth #11 at the SYNC Power Conference 2025 from January 14th to 16th. Come by our booth to learn more about how you can improve your cable performance and ensure operational efficiency by leveraging MV cable condition assessments, hands-on testing techniques, and practical solutions to common diagnostic challenges.
