Abstract

Transformers are significantly more reliable in comparison to other network components, however, the impact of an unexpected failure can be costly and can result in an interruption of power delivery. Large amounts of time and resources are invested to obtain data through oil testing, electrical testing, and visual inspections, often resulting in confusing results that make it difficult to assess if a transformer is fit to continue service or requires replacement.
