Toronto, Canada – Kinectrics was recently awarded a contract by the TTC to perform Asset Condition Assessments of equipment at 20 substations supplying Subway Line 1.

Assessments will be completed for DC transformers, rectifiers, DC breakers, cable chambers and DC cables based on a combination of historical maintenance records, field and lab testing to be performed by Kinectrics and TTC staff expert opinions. As part of this contract, Kinectrics is excited to have the opportunity to develop the methodology for, and complete, first-of-a-kind testing and assessment of unshielded DC cables.

These condition assessments will enable Kinectrics and TTC to use a consistent approach in establishing the condition of these assets and to develop appropriate action plans going forward and further improve reliability.

This multi-division project within Kinectrics will employ expertise of Kinectrics staff from different groups across the company and utilize Kinectrics specialized equipment.

Kinectrics President and CEO, David Harris, says “Kinectrics is delighted to be a part of this cutting-edge endeavor in the transit industry that exemplifies our ability to provide a multidiscipline and complete solution to our clients.”
